We Demand Justice
More than 1000 Died, Thousands Injured.
What happened in Bangladesh? A Historic Movement led by Students
Students were engaged in peaceful protests in Bangladesh following the reinstatement of a quota system for civil service roles. This protest has drawn the support of general citizens. Instead of resolving the issue, government started name-calling and resorted to extreme measures, including blocking communication services, enforcing curfews with shoot-on-sight orders and confronting protesters with arms.
More than 1000 people have died, and several thousands have been injured.
The movement and atrocities are unprecendented in the history of Bangladesh since independence in 1971.
As the situation grew intense, protestors then called for the resignation of the government and declared non-cooperative movement at all levels. The relentless demonstrations compelled Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to leave her post and flee the country.
A interim government has taken over the power and is now trying to restore law and order. New government is gathering evidence for the extent of the atrocities, on who were responsible for the direction and execution of this heinous act and filing law suits.
However, any domestic litigation will have little or no effect on Ex Prime minister and many ministers who fled the country. As a result, organizing at the international level is imperative to bring justice to those who committed this brutality.
